Since 2001 MEASURE DHS has helped more than 15 countries conduct population-based HIV testing. The DHS testing protocol provides for anonymous, informed, and voluntary testing of youth. The testing is simple; blood spots from a finger prick are collected on filter paper and transported to laboratories. All respondents receive referrals for free testing, counseling, and educational materials. This map is a quick representation of the proportion of youth (age 15-24) tested HIV positive in various DHS surveys conducted since 2001.
